Finding the Right Meditation Technique:
What exactly is meditation? Simply put, meditation is an intense state of concentration on a single thought, object or intention. Today there are many simple meditation techniques to choose from, including mindfulness meditation training, guided meditation techniques and traditional meditation techniques. Meditation seems to be growing in popularity in the Western World. With the 24-hour “on-the-go” lifestyle, many people are finding themselves burned out, tired and exhausted. As meditation is an effective way to slow down and refresh the mind and body, many people are looking for an efficient meditation technique that they can incorporate into their demanding routine
Meditation does not need to be a complicated, nor time-consuming process. It is simply a way to slow down the taxing active brain waves, known as beta waves, to a more relaxing state known as alpha. There are many simple meditation techniques that will help you to do this.
Which meditation technique is right for you:
Breathing Meditation Technique:
If you are a complete beginner, I would suggest that you try a simple “Breathing Meditation Technique.” This is one of many simple meditation techniques that involves putting all of your attention on your breathing. You may practice this for 3-30 minutes with your eyes closed, just to get a sense of what meditation should feel like. The advantage of this meditation technique is that it can be used anywhere, at any time, for any length of time.

Mantra Meditation Technique:
Mantra Meditation is also one of many popular meditation techniques. In this practice, one repeats a mantra over and over again in their mind. The objective is to practice keeping your attention on one thought (the mantra!) and letting the busy chatter in your mind have a rest. There are several mantras to choose from. One may repeat an intention such as “loving kindness” or a specific sound or word such “OM”. Meditation techniques that involve mantras have been used for thousands of years in places such as India. This meditation technique may be used for 3- 30 minutes giving you flexibility to fit it into your schedule.

Guided Meditation Techniques:
If you have a busy, active mind and have trouble slowing down, I recommend guided meditation techniques. The nice thing about guided meditation techniques is that all you need to do is relax and listen to someone else’s voice. If you get distracted, you just need to bring your attention back to the guide’s voice. Guided meditation is also quite attractive because there are so many topics to chose from that it could also be used for self-improvement as a form of self-hypnosis. One can gain confidence and experience with this guided meditation techniques and then move on to longer periods of self-meditation on their own.
Whatever, meditation technique you choses, I congratulate you on your decision to take on this beneficial practice.
